On Wednesday evening, the body of a newborn girl was discovered in a drain near the Chandla police station area in Chhatarpur district. Local villagers reported that dogs were gnawing at the body near the society outside Katiya village. Villagers chased the dogs away and immediately informed the Chandla police. After receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene, secured the body, and began an investigation. During this process, some individuals recorded videos and shared them online. Locals suggested that a woman had allegedly thrown her daughter into the drain shortly after birth. Fetus estimated at 7–8 months Lavkushnagar SDOP Naveen Dubey confirmed that the body belongs to a newborn girl. The fetus is underdeveloped and estimated to be 7 to 8 months old. The body has been sent to Chandla Hospital for further examination. Investigation underway Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine who threw the child into the drain and the motive behind the act. Officers are also collecting information from nearby villages and hospitals to trace the accused.
