6 devotees swept away amid rising water in Shipra river:SDRF Home Guard teams rescue all in Ujjain; authorities warn citizens to avoid bathing

After heavy rains in Ujjain, Dewas, and Indore, the Shipra river water level suddenly rose on Saturday. Ramghat in Ujjain was completely submerged, and the river began flowing with a strong current. Six devotees from Uttar Pradesh got stuck in the river while bathing for Mahakal darshan. They were rescued safely by rescue teams. Devotees stuck in strong current On Saturday morning, six devotees went to Ramghat to bathe before visiting Mahakal. The Shipra river was flowing rapidly. They did not realise the depth and were swept away by the strong current. Immediate rescue by teams Rescue teams from SDRF, Home Guard, and Maa Shipra Swimmer Team were present at the spot. They immediately jumped into the river to save the devotees. Four were rescued near the Aarti spot, and two were saved about 100 metres away in front of the Ramghat police outpost. Shila Chaudhary of the Home Guard team said all six devotees had no idea about the river’s depth. Administration issues warning The water level of the Shipra river is still rising. Authorities have appealed to devotees and local residents to avoid bathing at Ramghat and other ghats for now. SDRF and Home Guard teams remain alert and continue monitoring the river banks.
