The Bhopal Excise Department late Monday night seized a large stock of expensive foreign and country-made liquor during coordinated operations across the city, officials reported on Tuesday. Acting swiftly on intelligence inputs, the department carried out raids that not only unearthed high-value consignments but also strengthened its resolve to continue decisive action against the illicit alcohol trade. Major seizure takes place in Rahul Nagar An excise department team, as per officials, raided a residential flat at Rahul Nagar Multi near the MANIT Square on Monday night. Led by Control Room in-charge RG Bhadoria, the team seized 160 bottles containing 120 bulk litres of premium foreign liquor stored illegally in House No. G-6. The cache comprised multiple expensive brands and was being hoarded for unauthorised sale. Additional recovery comes to pass in Panchsheel Nagar In a parallel action, officials also raided a dilapidated house in Panchsheel Nagar, where they recovered 80 pouches of country-made liquor. The department confirmed that both raids were based on tip-offs received through local intelligence. Seized liquor valued at Rs 1.25 lakh The officials said that cases have been registered under various provisions of the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act, 1915; Sections 34(1) and 34(2); against unidentified offenders. According to the officials, efforts are underway to establish the identity of the accused, who will be presented before court at the earliest. The seized liquor is valued at approximately Rs 1.25 lakh. The operation was overseen by in-charge Assistant District Excise Officer Vivek Saxena.
