To increase the strength of the army, a 250 kg bomb is being prepared in two Ordnance Factories of Jabalpur (Jabalpur and Khamaria). The Central Security Institute has ordered 1100 bombs. Jabalpur’s factory (OFJ) is preparing the bomb shell, and Khamaria’s (OFK) factory will fill it with gunpowder. Both factories have been given the target to complete the work by March 2026. The factory had prepared five 250 kg bombs as a trial. Their test in the Long Proof Range (LPR) has been successful. After this, regular production of the bomb has been started. Experts say that the new bomb will multiply the strength of the army. Military vehicles, bunkers, and aircraft can also be destroyed with these bombs. Consideration for making a 500 kg bomb Ordnance Factory Jabalpur (OFJ)’s next target is to manufacture a 500-kilogram thousand-pounder bomb. The factory management and the central security institution have started considering this. Work has also begun on the necessary guidelines and materials for this. This will be the country’s largest bomb. The task of manufacturing the thousand-pounder bomb has been assigned to a small factory for the first time in the country. Prior to this, OFJ has worked on other bombs, including 120-kilogram ones. It is worth noting that in the year 2023, the factory had shaped the bomb’s body. Factory also manufacturing hand grenades and anti-tunnel bombs Ordnance Factory Jabalpur has so far been preparing shells for 100 to 120-kilogram aerial bombs. In addition, ammunition boxes, hand grenades, and anti-tunnel bombs are also manufactured here.
