Youth found hanging at house in Ratibad:Had dispute with aunt before the mishap; kin allege murder, police register FIR

A youth aged 23 was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Bhopal’s Ratibad area early Thursday morning, the police said. As per police, the man, identified as Simon Lawrence, was discovered hanging inside his maternal aunt’s house, where he had been living for the past six years. The police said that they have registered a case of unnatural death and have initiated an investigation. Simon was in a relationship with his aunt, kin reveals Ratibad police station in-charge RB Sharma told Bhaskar English that according to Simon’s younger brother, Jerry, Simon had been in a relationship with his maternal aunt since their uncle’s death six years ago. Both had reportedly been living together in Shiv Nagar in Neelbad, but frequent disputes used to ensue between them. Jerry alleged that Simon’s death may not be suicide, suggesting the possibility of foul play. He pointed out that Simon’s mobile phone was missing, raising further suspicion. Aunt himself informs Jerry about Simon’s death Jerry further told the cops that his aunt herself informed him of Simon’s death in the early hours of Thursday. When he arrived at the house, he found the room in disarray, with household items scattered across the floor. Simon’s body was lying on the ground with a noose around his neck, but scratch marks were also visible on his body. He further alleged that a heated argument between Simon and his aunt may have taken place the previous night. This, combined with the missing phone and visible injuries, has led the family to believe that Simon may have been murdered. Police probe underway Senior police officials confirmed that a case of unnatural death has been registered. The post-mortem report will be crucial in determining the cause of death and whether it was suicide or homicide. Officers also stated that all angles, including family disputes, relationship tensions, and the missing phone, are being probed.
