The monsoon has started retreating from Madhya Pradesh. It has also begun withdrawing from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab and Haryana. The first exit in Madhya Pradesh was seen in four districts Neemuch, Bhind, Morena and Sheopur. Weather officials say the monsoon may withdraw from more than 10 other districts in the next two to three days. Even as it retreats, light rain is expected to continue in parts of the state. The 4 districts from where monsoon has returned received 35 to 115 percent more rainfall this time. In Sheopur of Chambal division, 56.6 inches of rain fell compared to the normal 26.2 inches, which is 115 percent more. During the monsoon withdrawal, many districts in the state received rainfall on Wednesday. In Sidhi, 36 mm, or about one and a half inches of rain fell. Four districts are in Ujjain division and three districts are in Chambal division. According to the meteorological department, monsoon will now bid farewell from Ujjain and Gwalior divisions. After this, monsoon will start departing from districts of Indore, Bhopal, Sagar, Narmadapuram, Rewa, Shahdol and Jabalpur divisions. Meteorologist Arun Sharma said that there is a possibility of monsoon returning from some more districts of Madhya Pradesh in the coming 2 to 3 days. From the beginning of this monsoon season, the situation in Indore and Ujjain division has not been good. At one point, Indore had received the least rainfall in the state. There were speculations about whether Indore would even receive normal rainfall this time. However, due to heavy rains in September, Indore completed its normal rainfall quota. Though, the picture is not better for Barwani, Khargone and Khandwa in the division. On the other hand, Ujjain still hasn’t met its quota. Since monsoon entered MP, the eastern parts namely Jabalpur, Rewa, Sagar and Shahdol divisions have received heavy rainfall. Strong rain systems remained active here. Many districts including Chhatarpur, Mandla, Tikamgarh, Umaria experienced flooding. Monsoon has also rained heavily in Gwalior-Chambal. All 8 districts here have received more water than their quota. These include Gwalior, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Bhind, Morena, Datia and Sheopur. Out of 39, 4 districts from Bhopal division, 5 from Indore, 7 from Jabalpur, 5 from Gwalior, 6 from Sagar, 4 from Ujjain, all 3 from Chambal, 3 from Shahdol and 2 districts from Narmadapuram division are included. Highest rainfall in Guna, lowest in Khargone
This time Guna has received the highest rainfall of 65.4 inches. Raisen has received 61.1 inches, Mandla 60 inches, Sheopur 56.6 inches and Ashoknagar 56 inches of rain. Meanwhile, Khargone received the lowest rainfall of 27.5 inches. Shajapur has received 28.7 inches, Khandwa 29.8 inches, Badwani 30.9 inches and Dhar has received 32.8 inches of water.
