Tribals to block ‘politically motivated’ Kurmi’s ST status bid

Tribal outfits, spearheaded by the Adivasi Bachao Morcha, organized a march in Ranchi to protest the Kurmi community’s demand for inclusion in the Scheduled Tribe list. Tribal leaders argue that the Kurmi community does not meet the criteria set by the Union Home Ministry for ST status. They also expressed concerns about potential social division and historical discrimination.
