The Madhya Pradesh government has cancelled the attachment of 213 government school teachers who had been working outside schools ahead of the Monsoon Session of the State Assembly. The Directorate of Public Instruction has directed District Education Officers in 16 districts to immediately send all these teachers back to their original postings in schools. The action follows a district-level review conducted after a question raised by BJP MLA Umakant Sharma from Sironj in the Assembly on July 30 last year. According to the Education Department’s list, several teachers had been attached for years as personal assistants (PAs) to MLAs or were working in the Collector’s Office, District Panchayat, Election Office, District Education Office, Janpad Panchayat, SDM Office and other administrative departments. The department has clarified that all of them should be sent back to their original schools so that the teaching system in schools is not affected. Priyanka Sharma, a primary teacher at Government Primary School, Parwalia in Bhopal, has been attached to the Vimukt Jati Ashram in Ibrahimpura, Berasia, since August 2023. Attached as MLAs’ personal assistants Subhag Singh Patel, an assistant teacher at Government Middle School, Umaria Pathra in Jabalpur, has been serving as the personal secretary to the Bahoriband MLA since August 2024. Anand Kumar Shrivastava, a lecturer at Kareli Higher Secondary School in Narsinghpur, has been attached to the Tendukheda MLA’s office since August 2024. Ajit Dwivedi, an assistant teacher from Jabalpur, has been attached to the Public Works Department office in Jabalpur since July 2025. Teachers working in Collector and SDM offices Dilip Singh Thakur, a primary teacher at Gohalpur Girls Higher Secondary School in Jabalpur, has been attached to the Jabalpur Collector’s Office (Land Records) since June 2025. Mahendra Kumar Jhariya, an assistant teacher at Supeli Middle School in Katni, has been attached to the Bahoriband SDM Office since March 2025. Narsinghpur teachers attached in Bhopal Rajeshwar Nath Pathak, a lecturer at Government Excellence School, Narsinghpur, has been attached to the Madhya Pradesh Textbook Corporation in Bhopal since June 2009.
