Woman gets rare eye infection after swimming with contact lenses

Maureen Cronin, a New York lifeguard, nearly lost her vision in one eye after contracting acanthamoeba keratitis by wearing contact lenses while swimming. Initially misdiagnosed, she later underwent a failed cornea transplant and developed glaucoma. Now blind in the infected eye, Cronin aims to raise awareness on the dangers of wearing contact lenses while swimming.
