NASA’s ATLAS telescope in Chile has detected a fast-moving interstellar comet, named 3I/Atlas, currently located 4.5 au from the Sun. This is only the third alien object observed in our solar system, following Oumuamua and comet 2I/Borisov. 3I/Atlas poses no threat to Earth and will approach the Sun around October 30, passing between Mars and Earth.
