record-₹32,490-crore-invested-in-sips-in-september:₹193-crore-higher-than-in-august;-mutual-fund-industry’s-aum-fell-5.1%

Monthly contributions, or investments, through systematic investment plans (SIPs) reached a new all-time high of ₹32,490 crore in September. The figure stood at ₹32,297 crore in August. SIP contributions rose by ₹193 crore, or around 0.6%, in September compared with August. This shows that retail investors’ confidence in mutual fund investments in the country continues to strengthen. This is the second consecutive month in which SIP contributions have remained above ₹32,000 crore. However, the mutual fund industry’s total assets under management (AUM) declined during this period. 63 lakh new SIP registrations; total SIP assets reach ₹17.86 lakh crore According to data released by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), around 63 lakh new SIP accounts were registered in September. As a result, total assets under management through SIPs (SIP AUM) reached ₹17.86 lakh crore by the end of September. Through SIPs, investors invest a fixed amount in mutual fund schemes at a set time each month instead of investing a lump sum. The monthly SIP contribution reflects the amount received during that month, while SIP AUM represents the current market value of the money invested. Industry’s total AUM falls 5.1% as debt funds see selling Despite record investment through SIPs, the mutual fund industry’s total net assets under management (AUM) declined in September. As of 30 September, the industry’s total AUM stood at ₹82.64 lakh crore, compared with ₹87.08 lakh crore at the end of August. This represents a decline of around 5.1%. The main reason for the fall in AUM was heavy selling from debt mutual funds. Debt funds recorded net outflows of ₹1.83 lakh crore in September. AMFI data shows that total AUM can decline because of redemptions-that is, investors withdrawing their money or receiving it on maturity-and changes in market value, while regular inflows through SIPs can continue to rise. Investment in Equity Funds Rises, Small-Cap Funds Receive the Most at ₹9,038 Crore Contrary to the selling in debt funds, investors’ interest in equity-oriented mutual funds has increased. Equity schemes received an investment of ₹38,306.55 crore in September, around 31% higher than the ₹29,328.62 crore invested in August. Investment Trends in the Equity Category What Are SIPs and AUM?
