Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran on Wednesday said he won’t seek a term extension beyond 20 February 2027, when his term ends. Tata Group is due to hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 18 August, 2026 and the board may soon decide who will be Chandrasekaran’s successor. Reasons for exit: Chandrasekaran said he chose not to continue as Tata Sons Chairman because one of the company’s board members refused to vote in favour of extension of Chandrasekaran’s term beyond 20 February, 2027. Albeit, Chandrasekaran said that the two main trusts of the Tata Group – Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT) and Sir Ratan Tata Trust (SRTT) earlier had recommended his tenure extension but he still chose not to continue because of lack of full support.
