IRCTC’s new beta website is now live, giving users a chance to explore its redesigned interface and share feedback on its features and overall user experience. Last month, during a visit to Jaipur’s Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the revamped IRCTC website would be launched in July. According to the Ministry of Railways, the beta version has been introduced to collect user feedback to help identify areas for improvement. The suggestions received will be incorporated into future updates to enhance the customer experience further. Launched in 2002, the IRCTC website currently handles an average of around 14.5 lakh train ticket bookings every day, making it one of the busiest online ticketing platforms in the country. The beta version of the new IRCTC website is now live and can be accessed at: https://www.irctc.co.in/eticket/. New IRCTC website to handle 1.5 lakh bookings per minute The revamped IRCTC website has been designed to improve the online ticket booking experience by handling up to 1.5 lakh ticket bookings per minute, a major upgrade aimed at reducing server congestion during peak travel periods. According to Indian Railways, the enhanced booking capacity is expected to provide a more stable platform, particularly during Tatkal booking hours, when heavy demand often leads to slowdowns, payment failures and unsuccessful reservations. The new website also features a redesigned, clutter-free interface to make navigation and ticket booking simpler. Passengers will encounter fewer CAPTCHA verification steps, allowing them to complete bookings more quickly. Among the key additions is a fare calendar, enabling users to compare ticket prices across multiple dates before finalising their journey. The platform also introduces multilingual support, making the service more accessible to users across the country. Railways said the upgraded portal includes faster train search, a simplified seat availability check and a streamlined payment process designed to reduce transaction failures and speed up checkout.
