A 60-year-old man died after hanging himself at his house in Bhopal’s Bairagarh area. According to police, the deceased was identified as Manohar Lal Raikwar, son of Mohanlal Raikwar, a resident of Beta village in Bairagarh. He worked as a plumber. Around eight months ago, he suffered a paralytic stroke, after which his health continued to deteriorate and he remained confined to his home. Police said one side of his body had stopped functioning due to the illness, making even routine daily activities difficult. Because of prolonged health problems, he had also become mentally distressed and was suffering from depression. Police have registered a case and started investigation On Friday morning, his wife woke up and went to the first floor of the house, where she found Manohar Lal hanging from a pipe with a noose around his neck. She raised an alarm. Relatives living nearby reached the spot and, with their help, the body was brought down before police were informed. After receiving the information, Bairagarh police reached the spot, inspected the scene and sent the body for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and an investigation has begun. Police said the initial inquiry suggests he took the step because of his illness and the mental distress arising from it. Further action will be taken after the post-mortem report and investigation are completed.
