A sensational murder case has been uncovered in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district involving a 20-year-old man who had been missing for nearly three months. Police said Vipin Kumar Yadav, a resident of Satna district, was murdered at his in-laws’ house on March 27. The investigation revealed that the accused strangled him before dumping the body into a well. When the body later floated to the surface, the accused allegedly removed it and buried it around 300 metres from his house so he could keep watch over the burial site. The body was exhumed on Thursday evening in the presence of an Executive Magistrate. A post-mortem will be conducted on Friday. He went to his in-laws’ house and then disappeared Vipin Kumar Yadav was a resident of Mohar Tola (Bhagdevara) in the Rampur Baghelan police station area of Satna district. He was married in Tikar village under Govindgarh police station in Rewa district. He had gone to his in-laws’ house on March 26. His family lost contact with him the following day. On March 28, his father, Santu Yadav, lodged a missing person complaint at Rampur Baghelan police station in Satna. During the initial investigation, police suspected that the young man might have left after an argument or due to personal reasons. Relatives and acquaintances were questioned, but no clue emerged. How the truth came to light During the investigation, police traced the victim’s last mobile location to Tikar village in the Govindgarh police station area, the native village of accused Sunil Kushwaha. Police then began questioning villagers and relatives. Investigators also examined the victim’s wife’s call detail records, which revealed frequent and lengthy conversations with Sunil Kushwaha. The two reportedly spoke several times a day. Based on this evidence, police took Sunil into custody. Body recovered from a drain near the accused’s house During interrogation, Sunil confessed to the murder and disclosed the location where the body had been buried. Police had detained him from the victim’s wife’s house. Acting on his disclosure, an excavation began at around 4 pm on Thursday near a drain about 300 metres from his house in Tikar village. The body was recovered from a few feet below the ground in the presence of an Executive Magistrate. Having remained buried for nearly three months, the body was completely decomposed. Fear of being caught, so buried The accused told police that after the murder he had thrown the body into a well, but when it floated to the surface he feared being caught. He then removed the body and buried it at another location. Police have sought revenue records to determine the ownership of the land where the body was buried. Further charges will be added based on the post-mortem report, forensic examination and other technical evidence.
