A case of gang rape of a 16-year-old minor girl has come to light in the Katara Hills police station area of the capital, Bhopal. The accused also made a video of the incident and sent it to the victim’s brother’s mobile phone about a week later. After receiving the video, the family complained to the police. Police have registered an FIR under gang rape and POCSO Act and started investigation. A minor accused has been taken into custody in the case. According to the police, the victim is mentally challenged. She stopped going to school. Two boys from the neighbourhood had been pressuring her for many days to befriend them and go out with them, but she did not talk to them. Lured to secluded spot on pretext of talking Police said that on July 1, the victim was alone near her house when the two accused approached her and, on the pretext of talking, took her to a secluded area behind a school near the settlement. They allegedly raped her and recorded the assault on a mobile phone. As the victim is mentally challenged, she was unable to inform her family about the incident after returning home. One juvenile detained, search on for another Katara Hills police station SHO Sunil Dubey said a case has been registered against the accused under Sections 70(2) and 351(3) of the BNS, Sections 5(g) and 6 of the POCSO Act, and Section 67A of the IT Act. A juvenile has been taken into custody, while police are searching for his absconding accomplice and expect to arrest him soon.
