A district court in Bhopal on Friday heard the CBI’s applications seeking the voice sample of accused Samarth Singh and access to the password of his laptop in connection with the suspicious death of actress and model Twisha Sharma. During the hearing, counsel representing the accused—Samarth Singh and his mother, retired judge Giribala Singh—presented their response to the CBI’s requests. The court heard arguments from both sides and reserved its order until July 6. Defence agrees to share laptop password At the previous hearing, the CBI had sought permission to collect Samarth Singh’s voice sample and requested that he provide the password to his laptop to assist in the investigation. During Friday’s hearing, the defence said it had no objection to providing the laptop password. The defence also did not oppose the collection of Samarth Singh’s voice sample but requested that a copy of the recorded voice sample be securely preserved in court to ensure transparency in the process. CBI says digital evidence crucial to investigation During an earlier hearing on Tuesday, the CBI argued that both the laptop password and the voice sample were essential for examining digital evidence and conducting forensic analysis of electronic devices. The defence, however, stressed the need for a transparent procedure while collecting the voice sample. After hearing both sides, the court reserved its decision without issuing an immediate order. Meanwhile, the CBI is expected to continue its investigation after the court’s ruling. The agency has already questioned Samarth Singh during custody and is collecting digital and forensic evidence related to the case. Court also hears plea seeking post-mortem reports The court also heard an application seeking copies of the first and second post-mortem reports. Advocate Ankur Pandey said the application had been filed by the defence. Counsel representing the Union of India sought additional time, stating that a reply would be filed after receiving detailed information from AIIMS. The court has scheduled the next hearing on this application for July 14.
