More than 350 candidates selected for jobs in the electricity company have been waiting for appointment letters for the past one year. Many say they left their old jobs or turned down other government job offers after being selected, hoping to join the company. Mahendra Pal Chauhan from Dhar says he did not join the police department after being selected as an Office Assistant in the electricity company. Vibha Yadav from Khandwa says she gave up another job opportunity for the same reason. Ranjeet Singh from Chhindwara says he resigned from his contract job in the health department after his selection, but he has still not received an appointment. The selected candidates claim that although the recruitment process was completed, the electricity company is now saying there are no vacant posts. This has raised questions over how recruitment was carried out if no posts were available, and why appointments have still not been given. More than 350 candidates await appointment Actually, Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company announced recruitment for 818 posts of Class-3 in the year 2024. After the examination, the result was declared, and document verification was also completed. After the intervention of the High Court, about 250 candidates received appointments, but more than 350 selected candidates are still waiting for their appointments today. Now, neither new jobs are available, nor are the old ones left. The question arises: if there were no posts, why was the recruitment announced in the first place? 250 people got jobs after High Court’s intervention The examination was held in March 2025, and the first result was declared on May 28 of the same year. However, just two hours later, the result was removed from the website. The department did not provide any reason for this. Two days later, on May 30, a revised result was released. Based on this, the documents of the selected candidates were also verified on June 23 and 24, 2025. Generally, after document verification, the appointment process reaches its final stage, so the candidates were confident that they would now get their joining. Meanwhile, a dispute arose regarding two questions in the answer key, and the matter reached the High Court. As per the court’s directive, a revised result was issued on January 5, 2026. Following this, about 250 candidates were appointed, but more than 350 selected candidates were stopped with the explanation that the department no longer had vacant posts available. Verification complete, officials say posts have ended Ragini Chaure from Chhindwara says that she was selected after passing a competitive exam among thousands of candidates. Document verification was also completed, but now officials are saying that the posts have been abolished. Ragini asks, “If there were no posts, why was the recruitment announced? I left a good private job. Now I can neither go back there nor am I getting an appointment here. Who will ultimately take responsibility for our future?” Left job, now wandering unemployed The biggest problem is that many of these candidates were previously employed somewhere. Some left jobs in private companies, while others rejected opportunities in government departments. They were confident that they would get a permanent appointment in the electricity company. Now the situation is that they are neither getting an appointment in the electricity company nor can they get their previous jobs back. They say that such a decision, after the completion of the recruitment process, is a direct blow to their careers and financial situation. Agitation continues for a year, no one is listening The selected candidates have been continuously agitating for a year. First, they staged a sit-in in Bhopal, and now they are protesting outside the headquarters of the electricity company in Indore. Candidate Krishna states that he is from a poor family. The family somehow manages to run the household by working as labourers. Upon selection, the entire family thought that their financial situation would improve, but even today, they have not received an appointment. Krishna says, “Many candidates who took the exam with us got joining, but we were stopped just by saying that there are no posts. If there were no posts, why was the recruitment process started in the first place?” Company’s claim – Solution will be found soon Prakash Chauhan, Chief General Manager of Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company, says that the appointment was delayed because the matter went to the High Court during the recruitment process.
