In a shocking incident, a woman was allegedly assaulted, partially stripped, and paraded through a village in Ujjain district by her in-laws and other relatives. According to the information, the incident took place on June 30 in Araniya Vena village. Jharada Police have registered a case against 11 people, including three women. Three accused have been arrested, while efforts are underway to trace the remaining eight. Dispute linked to property claim According to Station House Officer (SHO) Anand Bhabor, the woman was initially married in Araniya Vena village. Later, she allegedly developed a relationship with another man from the same village. In 2023, she left her first husband, married her partner, and the couple moved to Indore. Police said the dispute began after the woman sought a share in the agricultural property of her second husband’s family. She visited her in-laws’ house in Araniya Vena on June 30 to discuss the matter, where an argument reportedly broke out. Accused allegedly dragged her out of the house In her complaint, the woman told police that at around 9 AM, she was inside her room when Sumer Singh, Kachru Singh, Badrilal, and several others allegedly broke open the door and entered. She alleged that the accused grabbed her by the hair and hands, dragged her outside, where three women from her in-laws’ family and other relatives were present. The accused allegedly cut her hair, tore her clothes, leaving her partially naked, and forced her to wear a garland made of shoes and slippers before parading her through the village. Woman and husband assaulted, police launch hunt for remaining accused The woman further alleged that both she and her husband were assaulted during the incident and threatened with death. According to the complaint, she suffered injuries to her eye, cheek, head and abdomen, while her husband sustained injuries to his face, chest and stomach. SHO Anand Bhabor said that Sumer Singh, Kachru Singh and Badrilal have been arrested and sent to jail. Police teams are conducting raids to arrest the remaining accused.
