mumbai-indians-deny-talks-with-csk-over-hardik-pandya-trade:franchise-begins-season-review,-coaches-asked-for-feedback-after-9th-place-finish

Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have denied talks over a reported trade deal for Hardik Pandya. The MI captain is speculated to be generating interest from plenty of franchises; however, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has said that the team is not currently looking into any trade deals. Media reports claimed on Tuesday that Pandya was on the radar of as many as 7 IPL franchises, with CSK among those interested parties. Viswanathan, however, has insisted that CSK will only make moves after conducting its post-season review, which will take place once the ongoing Major League Cricket season is done and dusted. Mumbai Indians also shut down the talks over any trade talks, as reported by Cricbuzz. However, the report revealed that the franchise is engaged in talks with the player as MI have begun their post-season review after finishing 9th in the IPL 2026 standings. MI-CSK deny talks over Hardik Pandya trade “We have not taken any decision, and it is definitely not on the table as yet. We are aware which player is up for trade and we will discuss it once we complete our review of the season, which will only be after the ongoing MLC. There is still a lot of time for that,” Cricbuzz quoted CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan as saying. The same report also cited that a spokesperson from Mumbai Indians said, “Currently we are not engaged in conversations with regard to player trades, the same is only possible once the review is complete.” However, a detailed review of the IPL 2026 season is being done by the Mumbai Indians, more thorough and in-depth manner than in previous years. The franchise are in talks with their captain, and have also asked their coaches to submit their feedback on the season gone by. Performance review of all the support staff is also being done, and some big moves will only be made once MI’s internal review is complete. In a nutshell, the trade deal is much more complicated than it looks, and the franchise is in no hurry to make any decision. However, Pandya, given his stature, and his value, is definitely generating interest from other IPL teams, what remains to be seen if MI will be happy with the player they will get in exchange for their prized asset. The 32-year-old recently left Mumbai and has shifted to Bengaluru, having rented a property near the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. The star all-rounder is using the BCCI facility as his training base, and is hoping to regain fitness ahead of a packed calendar year. The decision to move to Bengaluru is also part of Hardik’s hopes to prolong his career, for the next 5-6 years. He is currently recovering from a quadriceps injury and has been sidelined for the ongoing T20I series against England. The star all-rounder is also likely to miss the ODI leg of the series, and his next target would most likely be the T20Is against Zimbabwe, from 23rd July.
