minister-sarang-pulls-up-officials-over-drain-issue:warns-officials-over-delayed-drainage-project

Madhya Pradesh minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang took a strong stand over the prolonged drainage problem in Odia Basti, located in Bhopal’s Chhola area, during an on-site inspection. Residents complained that dirty drain water frequently entered their homes, especially during the monsoon, and alleged that the issue had remained unresolved despite repeated complaints. Following the grievances, the minister summoned municipal officials and staff to the spot and reprimanded them. Minister questions delay in construction work During the inspection, Sarang asked officials why the drainage project, approved nearly two years ago, had still not been completed. Expressing dissatisfaction with their response, he said residents had been suffering for a long time while the responsible officials continued to show negligence. He added that failure to complete the project despite sanctioned government funds amounted to serious dereliction of duty. Warns of FIR against negligent officials The minister warned that an FIR could be registered against the employee found responsible for negligence in the execution of the work. He directed officials to ensure an immediate resolution of the drainage problem and stressed that any further delay in the construction work would not be tolerated. Strict action if deadline is missed Residents told the minister that overflowing drains worsened conditions during the rainy season, with sewage water regularly entering their homes. Sarang instructed officials to take immediate corrective measures and reiterated that negligence in works related to basic public amenities would not be accepted. He warned that strict action would be taken against those responsible if the project was not completed within the stipulated timeline.
