Tuesday, June 30, is the last day for residents to pay advance property tax and water tax with a discount offered by the Municipal Corporation. With a revenue target of ₹140 crore, the civic body has kept its tax collection counters open to handle the expected rush of taxpayers. The Municipal Corporation has been running an awareness campaign for several days to encourage people to pay their taxes in advance. Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava and Municipal Commissioner Kshitij Singhal have also appealed to residents to make use of the final day to deposit advance property tax and water tax. According to the corporation, June 30 is the last date to avail of the advance payment benefit. The Municipal Corporation is offering an attractive discount of 6.25 per cent on property tax and 6 per cent on water tax as a special incentive to people paying advance tax for the financial year 2026-27. Revenue in-charge Niranjan Singh Chauhan informed that the Municipal Corporation has set a target of 140 crores for advance property tax and water tax. It is possible that more tax may be collected than this. Last year, about 103 crores in tax was collected. Appeals have been made to the public It is worth noting that Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava had appealed to the public to deposit advance property tax and water tax, urging people to not only gain financial benefits by paying their taxes on time but also to participate in the development works of Indore city.
