India captain Shubman Gill and KL Rahul are reportedly set to arrive early in England to prepare for the ODI series against England. India will play three ODIs against England, which starts on 14 July and it will be a very crucial series in the context of the 2027 World Cup. Before the ODIs, India will play a five-match T20I series against England that will get underway on 1 July. India, the reigning T20 world champions, will enter this series after facing a shock 0-2 whitewash against Ireland. Shubman Gill, KL Rahul likely to arrive early in England India’s 15-member ODI squad for the England series is set to travel in batches. According to the Times of India, skipper Gill and wicketkeeper-batter Rahul could travel to England early in a bid to start their preparations for the three-match series. The report adds that the remainder of the squad could assemble in England by 12 July, two days before the series opener in Birmingham. India had blanked Afghanistan 3-0 in their last ODI series in June. Both Gill and Rahul would have happy memories from the last time they played in England, which was in the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy last year. Gill, the then new India Test captain, had amassed 754 runs in five Tests while Rahul had scored 532. The two would love to carry on from where they left off, this time in ODIs. The all-rounder, who last played in the third ODI against Afghanistan on 20 June, was ruled out of the T20I series against Ireland and England after experiencing discomfort in his left quadriceps. According to the Times of India report, the 23-year-old, who is yet to start his rehabilitation, has been asked to rest. The timeline of his recovery is not yet known, although the team management is hopeful of having him back in action soon. Should Nitish miss the England ODIs, it could well be an opportunity for Suryansh Shedge, who recently made his international debut in the 2nd T20I against Ireland. It remains to be seen what happens in this regard.
