shashank-singh-alleges-foul-play-in-bhopal-assault-allegation-case:’cook-recorded-video-of-bedrooms,-demanded-₹20,000′

A new twist has emerged in the alleged assault case against IPL cricketer Shashank Singh and his retired IPS father Shailesh Singh. The Punjab Kings star has stated to the media that the person making the allegations is not ‘trustworthy’. He not only alleged the cricketer’s privacy by recording videos of the bedroom but also asked for an advance sum from the cricketer. It is worth noting that a case was registered on Monday, 29 June, against retired Madhya Pradesh Special Director General of Police (Special DGP) Shailesh Singh and his son Shashank Singh along with their driver for allegedly assaulting and verbally abusing a cook in Bhopal. The complainant, Vipendra Singh Tomar, alleged that he was abused after the food he prepared was not liked. He further claimed that when he expressed his intention to quit the job, his mobile phone was confiscated, he was forced to continue working, and was later assaulted by Shailesh Singh, his son, and their driver. Following the incident, the victim released a tearful video recounting his ordeal. Ratibad Police Station registered an FIR on Monday and launched an investigation right away. However, the latest development has added a new layer to the incident. Shashank Singh’s perspective ‘Came into house, started recording video of bedrooms’: Shashank about complainant While speaking to the media about the FIR filed against him and his retired IPS father for allegedly assaulting a man, cricketer Shashank Singh said, “Nothing like that happened. A person who comes on the evening of the 25th and leaves on the morning of the 28th… how can you call that keeping someone hostage? The man came to us saying, ‘I know how to cook. I can prepare all kinds of food.’ But then he himself admitted that he actually didn’t know how to cook properly. So how can you trust a person like that? He came into the house and started recording videos of bedrooms. He even entered the bedroom, where expensive and luxury items were kept, recorded videos there, and sent them to other people.” Further adding to it, Shashank even revealed that he hardly had a one-or one-and-a-half-minute conversation with the complainant, let alone the assault. He mentioned that he just asked the person about the kind of dishes that he could prepare. ‘Demanded ₹20,000 advance payment, made us suspicious’: Shashank Singh Talking about how he came into contact with the complainant in the first place, Shashank replied, “He had come through one of my father’s friends, who recommended him, saying that he knew how to cook all these dishes. That’s why he was brought to the house, but as soon as he arrived, he demanded an advance payment of ₹20,000. My mother told him, ‘First cook for two or three days. Let us see whether you can adjust here and whether your cooking is good. After that, we’ll decide how much money to pay you.’ So right from the beginning, he was demanding ₹20,000. That itself made us suspicious… who asks for ₹20,000 immediately after arriving?” However, when the complainant Vipendra’s cooking skills were tested, they were not up to the mark as Shashank Singh and his family’s expectations. Allegedly lured to Bhopal with promise of government job According to the complainant, 31-year-old Vipendra Singh Tomar, a resident of Rewa, was brought to Bhopal through an acquaintance, Mohit Singh Sengar. He alleged that he was offered a job as a cook at Shailesh Singh’s residence with a monthly salary of ₹15,000, along with accommodation and meals. He also claimed he was assured assistance in securing a government job in the future. Tomar was employed at the family’s residence in Neelbad. ‘If you didn’t want to work, why did you come?’ The complainant alleged that within hours of joining, he was made to work continuously. He also claimed that the previous cook was being verbally abused, prompting him to decide to leave the job. According to Tomar, he was then told, “If you didn’t want to work, why did you come here? Did you come here to murder me?” He further alleged that his mobile phone was taken away and he was forced to continue working. Complainant Vipendra Tomar’s version Assault allegedly took place after Vipendra locked himself inside the room While sharing his ordeal to the public, complainant Vipendra Singh Tomar earlier said he locked himself inside a room out of fear. He alleged that Shailesh Singh, his son Shashank Singh, and their driver subsequently assaulted him. The complainant further claimed he even sustained injuries to his face and body and that his mobile phone was not returned even after the incident. Police registered FIR on Monday; investigation underway According to Ratibad police, statements of the complainant and witnesses were recorded before an FIR was registered. Based on the preliminary findings, a case has been registered against Shailesh Singh, Shashank Singh, and another employee under Sections 296(B), 115(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police said the investigation is ongoing and further action will be taken based on the findings. Despite Shashank Singh coming forward with his own version of truth, the authorities are yet to add any new development to the case.
