The bodies of a retired couple from the railway and health department were found in a locked house in Bhopal. After not coming out of the house for two days and a strong foul smell emanating, the tenant students informed the police. The police broke open the door and entered, where both were found dead. The incident took place in Sudama Nagar, under the Aishbagh police station area. The deceased have been identified as 64-year-old Hemant Barik and his 62-year-old wife Shakuntala Barik. Hemant Barik was a retired employee from the railway, while Shakuntala Barik had retired from Kasturba Hospital as a nurse. Couple lived alone in the house According to information, the couple lived alone in the house. Students live on rent in one part of their house. The couple’s son lives abroad with his family. The police have informed him. Currently, the bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and an investigation is being conducted from all angles. Police suspect suicide Students said that the couple had not left the house for the past two days. When a strong foul smell started coming from the house on Friday, they informed the police. Upon receiving the information, Aishbagh police station personnel reached the spot. In the preliminary investigation, no clear signs of forced entry or struggle were found at the scene. Police say that in the initial investigation, the case appears to be related to suicide, but the actual causes of death will only be revealed after the post-mortem and FSL investigation reports are received.
