A 50-year-old two-storey house collapsed in Ujjain’s Hammalwadi area on Wednesday morning, killing a 12-year-old boy who was trapped under the debris. His grandmother sustained critical injuries and has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment. Deep excavation pits had reportedly been dug near the structure, raising concerns that the digging may have weakened the foundation of the aging building, causing its rear portion to collapse suddenly. When the building collapsed, both were buried under the rubble. Local residents rushed to the scene immediately after the incident and launched rescue efforts. They removed the debris, pulled both victims out, and transported them to a hospital. Grandmother remains in critical condition Doctors declared Asran dead upon arrival at the hospital, while Khursheed Bi remains in critical condition and is receiving medical care. The incident has left the neighborhood in mourning. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collapse.
