The Madhya Pradesh government is set to propose the establishment of a permanent Simhastha Mela Office in Ujjain during Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting. Currently, the office functions only during the Simhastha festival, but the new proposal aims to make it operational throughout the year. The office will oversee planning and management for the Simhastha Kumbh, held every 12 years, and the Ardh Kumbh, organised every six years. Administrative preparations have already been completed. Zero-interest crop loan scheme likely to continue The Cabinet is also expected to approve the continuation of the zero-interest short-term crop loan scheme for 2026-27. The scheme benefits more than 24 lakh farmers who obtain loans through cooperative banks under the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) programme.
