In Jhansi, two BJP leaders became upset during the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sammelan’. Teacher MLC Dr. Babulal Tiwari reacted strongly over the seating arrangement. He turned over a chair placed on the stage and walked out of the event. However, he returned after some time and later sat on a chair at the back of the stage. Daily Bhaskar spoke to Dr. Babulal Tiwari on the entire matter. He said: “In politics, some people become indisciplined in the race for photo-frames. They sit on anyone’s chair. I sat by placing a chair at the back, but some people objected. So I left. However, on the request of officials, I came back and sat again.” The incident took place on Saturday, while its video surfaced on Sunday. In the same programme, District Panchayat President Pawan Gautam also left the event midway and expressed his displeasure on Facebook, writing that nothing is greater than self-respect and that he has sacrificed many such platforms. Now read the entire matter in detail… Chairs were in the second row for District Panchayat President and Mayor The ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sammelan’ was held at Deendayal Auditorium in Jhansi on Saturday. On the stage, the first row was reserved for the Chairman of the Legislative Council, four MLAs, three MLCs, district in-charge, rural district president and city president. Meanwhile, the District Panchayat President and the Mayor were seated in the second row. MLC Dr. Babulal Tiwari’s chair was placed in the front row, but Jhansi Mayor Bihari Lal Arya sat on it. As per protocol, the Mayor was supposed to be seated in the back row. When this seating mismatch happened, the MLC was shifted to a chair in the second row. When the Chief Minister arrived and all representatives stood up in respect, a security personnel attempted to adjust the chair where the MLC had been sitting. This upset Dr. Tiwari, who pushed the chair and left the stage. However, he returned shortly and resumed his seat. We are teachers, we prefer to remain disciplined Speaking to Dainik Bhaskar, Dr. Babulal Tiwari said he is a teacher and former principal, and therefore believes in discipline. He said some people in politics disrupt discipline in the race for visibility and occupy others’ chairs. He added that when he arrived, there was no chair assigned in his name. The District Panchayat President was also upset over this and left the programme. Dr. Tiwari said he initially sat at the back, but when people objected, he decided to leave. Later, on the request of the ADM and City Magistrate, he returned and joined the stage again. Pawan Gautam got angry seeing the seating arrangement Before the Chief Minister’s arrival, District Panchayat President Pawan Gautam reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the seating arrangement and raised objections with the district in-charge. He later left the programme and posted on Facebook, saying self-respect is paramount and referring to historical pride and sacrifice. City BJP president Sudhir Singh said seating arrangements were made strictly as per protocol for the Chief Minister’s programme. He said he was not aware of the MLC leaving the stage or the Facebook post by the District Panchayat President, but the matter was being looked into. He also said attempts were made to contact the Mayor regarding the seating issue but calls were not answered.
