A 24-year-old man, Lakhan Kirar, died after allegedly consuming acid in Bhopal. He was admitted to a hospital in Karond’s Ratanpur Colony and succumbed on Saturday. Nishatpura police have launched an investigation. Lakhan worked as a salesman at a garments shop in Chowk Bazaar. His wedding was scheduled for May 10, and preparations were underway, with invitation cards already distributed among relatives. However, the engagement was called off just days before the wedding. According to Lakhan’s brother-in-law, Akash Suryavanshi, Lakhan had reconnected with his former fiancée around 10 days before the wedding. During this period, a private photograph of him allegedly reached the bride’s family, following which the engagement was broken. The family alleges that the photo was shared by the former fiancée. Later, both returned to Bhopal. They lived together for a few days. Then disputes started between them. The brother-in-law says that Lakhan was very troubled by the sequence of events. On the night of June 18, he consumed acid. When his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to the hospital. No suicide note was found at the scene. On Saturday afternoon, after the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family members.
