During Tuesday’s hearing in the Twisha Sharma death case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) requested the court to extend the judicial custody of accused Samarth Singh and his mother, retired judge Giribala Singh, until June 30. According to counsel for Twisha’s family, Shubhang Dixit, the investigating agency did not seek police remand at this stage and instead filed an application solely for the extension of judicial custody. Second post-mortem report yet to be received Dixit further stated that, in response to an application seeking the second post-mortem report, the CBI informed the court that it has not yet received the document. The agency also told the court that the report is an important piece of evidence and forms a significant part of the ongoing investigation. Accused produced through video conferencing During the proceedings, Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh were produced before the court via video conferencing. Both accused participated in the hearing virtually while remaining in judicial custody. Counsel for Twisha’s side said that after the CBI sought an extension of judicial custody, the final decision on the matter now rests with the court. The hearing in the case is continuing. CBI continues investigation The CBI is investigating the suspicious death of Twisha Sharma. Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh are named as accused in the case and are currently lodged in judicial custody pending further proceedings.
