Four passengers, including three women and one child, were killed after being struck by a train in Morena district. The victims had reportedly stepped off the Udaipur Intercity Express following rumours of a fire onboard and were hit by another train passing on an adjacent track. All four died at the scene. According to preliminary information, a rumour of a fire spread through the Udaipur Intercity Express as it was travelling from Gwalior towards Morena. At around the same time, the Patalkot Express was passing on a nearby track in the direction of Dholpur. Unaware of the approaching train, several passengers got down from the Udaipur Intercity Express. Three women and one child were struck by the speeding Patalkot Express, resulting in their deaths. Chaos at the scene after the incident The accident caused panic and confusion around the railway tracks, with passengers raising alarms and informing railway authorities and the police. Following the incident, teams from the Government Railway Police (GRP), the Railway Protection Force (RPF), and the local police reached the site and secured the area. The bodies were recovered and sent for post-mortem examination. Authorities have initiated the process of identifying the deceased and informing their families. Railway officials and the police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the origin of the reported fire rumour and the sequence of events that led to the fatal accident.
