The government has given the green signal to the second phase of Indore Metro’s Yellow Line. On June 20, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will inaugurate the route from Super Corridor-2 to Radisson Chowraha. One day later, on June 21, the metro will start running on the new track for the general public. Deliberations are ongoing at the Metro office in Bhopal regarding fares, frequency, and schedule. A final decision on this will be made in the next three to four days. Once the metro corridor from Super Corridor-2 to Radisson Chowraha becomes operational, it will become Indore Metro’s busiest route with the highest passenger density. It is estimated that 4 to 6 lakh people will directly benefit from this route, while through feeder buses and other public transport means, this number could reach 8 to 10 lakh. This corridor will connect major residential and commercial areas such as Super Corridor, Gandhi Nagar, Lavkush, Sukhliya, Vijay Nagar, Scheme-78, Scheme-54, and Radisson Square. Particularly, Vijay Nagar and Radisson areas are major commercial and residential centers of the city, where a large number of people commute daily. Offices of several major companies on this route Within the scope of this route are the campuses of major IT companies like TCS, Infosys, and Yash Technologies. Additionally, SEZ, IT Park, Airport, educational institutions, hotels, and many corporate offices are also around this corridor. The campuses of TCS and Infosys alone have the capacity for thousands of employees. According to expert estimates, in the initial phase of metro operations, 25 to 40 thousand passengers could travel daily on this corridor, while after the development of the Super Corridor and surrounding areas, this number could reach from 60 thousand to one lakh passengers per day. Overall, the metro route from Super Corridor-2 to Radisson Chauraha will prove to be an important corridor connecting Indore’s IT hub, airport area, and major business centers, which will provide millions of people with fast, convenient, and modern public transport facilities.
