England beat India by five runs in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 warm-up match in Cardiff on 10 June. Batting first, the England women’s team posted 171/6 and in response, India were bowled out for 166 runs in 19.5 overs. One of the biggest talking points of the match was Nat Sciver-Brunt’s not-out decision. The England captain inside-edged a Shreyanka Patil delivery onto her boot and the ball went up in the air, with Richa Ghosh taking the catch. But the umpire did not give it out. Captain Brunt and Amy Jones scored fifties England started cautiously in the powerplay. The first wicket fell in the form of Danni Wyatt for 27 runs, but after that, Amy Jones and Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt formed a 70-run partnership. Jones scored 64 runs and Brunt scored 57 runs. In the 13th over, England’s score was 97 runs for 1 wicket, which became 152 runs for 6 wickets by the 19th over. In the final overs, Danielle scored 30 runs off 12 balls, taking England’s score to 171 runs. From India’s side, Shreyanka Patil took the most wickets, with 2. Smriti and Captain Harman flop, Richa fought hard India had a poor start in the run chase. Smriti Mandhana (1), Shafali Verma (13), Yastika Bhatia (15) and Captain Harmanpreet Kaur (17) were dismissed cheaply. Batting at number six, Richa Ghosh scored 68 runs off 36 balls. India needed 38 runs in the last two overs. In the 19th over, Richa collected 21 runs from Wong’s over. 17 runs were needed in the last over by Linsey Smith and Richa brought it down to 12 needed off four balls> Richa hit a four and six (off a full toss), causing the ball to be lost. But she was dismissed off the fourth ball of the over, effectively ending India’s chances. Renuka got out on the second-last ball of the innings and India were bowled out for 166. Apart from Richa, no other Indian batter reached even 20 runs. For England, Linsey Smith took the most wickets (3/42). Besides her, Charlotte Dean, Tilly Cortin Coleman, and Danielle Gibson took two wickets each.
