₹1200-crore-sanctioned,-questions-raised-over-research:hundreds-of-studies-on-scriptures-and-spirituality;-impact-on-school-education

The state’s training institutes in the field of education, DIET (District Institute of Education and Training) and PGBT (Post Graduate Basic Training), appear to be deviating from their original purpose. This is because if you expect research on children’s education, dropouts, or teaching methods to be conducted here, you might be a little disappointed. You will find much more research on religion, yoga, and spirituality. If you don’t believe it, look at this data. In the last two years, nearly 900 research studies have been conducted across the state in DIET-PGBT. Of these, 80 percent had subjects related to Gita-Ramayana, Vedas-Puranas, and historical contexts. Evidently, not a single one of these could be implemented at the ground level. This means that children did not benefit from these research studies, which is the main objective of this entire setup. It should be noted that the government spends 20 thousand rupees for each research study, and recently, 1200 crore rupees have been sanctioned for DIET and PGBT colleges. This includes talks about infrastructure development, but there is no discussion on improving research and academic standards. The subjects being chosen for research have no connection with education. Regarding this, the then Commissioner of the Directorate of Public Instruction, Shilpa Gupta, has also expressed her displeasure. Purpose of Research should be implemented for grassroots level improvement Research is being done on these subjects Training: A way to avoid field duty
Every year, about 900 teachers come to DIET to pursue D.Ed. The rule states that a teacher can undertake only two years of study or training at government expense and with salary during their entire service period. However, in reality, many influential teachers are continuously resorting to training to avoid teaching in schools. First, they stay in these training institutions for 6 to 8 years in the name of D.Ed, then B.Ed, and after that M.Ed. B.Ed trainees are sent for teaching practice to the same schools where teachers are already present. I have just taken charge. I will check what you have told me. If there is a problem, it will be rectified. -Subodh Saxena, Training In-charge, State Education Center, Bhopal No improvement, research only to exhaust the budget Educationist Damodar Jain says that for research in DIET, names of primary-secondary teachers and CACs are requested from BRC. Teachers can submit a project related to school problems based on their experience. The DIET Principal approves it. This is where the mistake is happening. The committee is passing religious/historical topics without checking their practical utility. These research works have now become merely a formality and a means to exhaust the budget.
