A 60-year-old woman was brutally murdered in Bhopal, with her legs chopped off using an axe, and her silver anklets looted. The victim was allegedly taken from her home by a young man from her village, who claimed he would introduce her to her son. Four days later, her decomposed body was discovered in the Sheshapura forest. Police have detained the accused, Jaswant Gurjar, and registered a case of murder and robbery. Accused took woman away on pretext of meeting her son According to the police, Badam Bai (60), a resident of Patharia village in Berasia, was taken on a motorcycle by Jaswant Gurjar, also from the same village, on June 4. He had told the woman that he was taking her to meet her son. After this, the woman did not return home. After searching, her family registered a missing person report on June 6. Accused informed woman’s husband The incident came to light on June 8. The accused himself informed the woman’s husband, Parvat Singh, about the body lying in the forest. When the husband and son reached the Sheshapura forest in the Nazirabad police station area, the woman’s body was found under a Mahua tree. Body infested with worms, and legs severed The body was 4-5 days old. It had decomposed and was infested with maggots. Both of the woman’s legs were severed near the ankles. One hand’s palm was also missing. The silver anklets worn on her feet were not found. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused first strangled the woman to death. After that, he cut off both her legs with an axe to remove the silver anklets. Police searching for motive behind murder Nazirabad Police Station in-charge Durjan Singh said that a case has been registered against the accused under various sections, including murder and robbery. Police are also investigating whether the murder was committed solely for looting the anklets or if there was any other reason behind it. The accused has confessed to the crime.
