A video from a Community Health Centre (CHC) in Singrauli district has sparked concern after a security guard was allegedly seen administering injections and intravenous (IV) drips to patients in the absence of medical staff. The incident reportedly took place at the Chitrangi Community Health Centre, where a large number of patients had gathered for treatment. According to local reports, doctors and other essential healthcare personnel were not present at their designated posts when the incident occurred. According to information available, the incident occurred at around 2 p.m. At the time, the doctors and other healthcare workers assigned to duty were allegedly absent from the facility. A viral video shows a security guard attending to patients, administering injections and setting up glucose drips, tasks typically performed by trained medical personnel. See pictures of the guard putting drips and giving injections “Do whatever you want,” guard allegedly told complainant Rakesh Maurya, who recorded the video, claimed he witnessed the security guard treating patients. According to Maurya, when he objected to the guard’s actions, the guard responded defiantly, saying, “Do whatever you can. Get me removed if you want.” Maurya further alleged that this was not the first such incident at the hospital. He claimed that ward attendants had previously been seen administering injections and IV drips to patients, and that videos of similar incidents had surfaced in the past as well. Patients raise concerns over absence of medical staff Patients and their family members alleged that doctors and essential healthcare workers are often unavailable at the facility when needed. They expressed concern that treatment was being provided by individuals who are not trained medical professionals, raising questions about patient safety and the quality of healthcare services at the hospital. Health Department orders inquiry Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Pushparaj Singh said the administration had received information about the viral video and the associated complaints. He stated that an inquiry has been ordered to verify the authenticity of the footage and examine all aspects of the incident. Action to follow investigation report The CMHO said further action would be taken based on the findings of the inquiry. Officials will determine when the video was recorded, the exact role and responsibilities of the individual seen in the footage, and the circumstances under which he was allegedly administering injections and IV drips to patients. The investigation is currently underway.
