A mobile phone kept in the pocket of a young man riding a scooter suddenly exploded in Panna district of Madhya Pradesh. The phone’s battery burst, setting his clothes on fire. The youth suffered burns to his leg and skin injuries. He managed to save himself by jumping off the moving scooter. Mukesh Verma (25), a resident of Rani Bagh, said he was returning home from the market on his scooter at around 6:30 pm on Sunday. As he reached in front of the District Hospital, the mobile phone in his trouser pocket suddenly started heating up. Before he could understand what was happening, the device exploded with a loud blast. He then quickly pulled the burning phone out of his pocket and threw it onto the road. His presence of mind prevented the incident from turning more serious. They poured water on both Mukesh and the burning phone lying on the road. Their quick action helped prevent the fire from spreading further. Clothes Burnt, Foot Scorched Mukesh Verma’s clothes were damaged in the incident, while one of his legs suffered burn injuries. He was immediately taken to Panna District Hospital, where he received first aid treatment. Doctors said his condition is stable after initial medical care. Had Purchased the Mobile Four Years Ago Mukesh said the device that exploded was an MI Redmi Note 10S model. He had purchased the phone around four years ago for nearly ₹20,000. At the time of the incident, the phone was kept in his trouser pocket. Crowd Gathered After the Incident The incident outside the District Hospital attracted a large crowd.
