A major fire broke out at a restaurant in Bhopal’s Lalghati area on Sunday morning, quickly escalating into a serious incident. According to eyewitnesses, smoke was first noticed around 7 am but was initially mistaken for regular kitchen fumes and ignored. The situation worsened around 8:30 am when the fire suddenly intensified and began spreading rapidly, bringing the situation under control of emergency services. Following the alert, the Fire Brigade rushed multiple teams to the spot. Fire engines were deployed from several stations across the city, while water tankers were also sent from Bhedaghat and Fatehgarh. A total of 7–8 fire tenders, including three water tankers, were engaged in firefighting operations. Fire started from kitchen and spread to two floors According to preliminary information, the fire started from the restaurant’s kitchen. It spread from the first floor to the second floor. The restaurant operates on both floors, which caused the fire to spread rapidly. The situation became such that firefighters had to break through walls to reach inside. Parts still smoldering, struggle to completely extinguish continues According to employees present at the scene, the fire has been largely brought under control, but it has not been completely extinguished. Fire and smoke still remain in the upper sections. The fire team is continuously cooling from inside and every possible area is being covered. Four commercial cylinders removed in time The biggest danger amidst the fire was from the commercial gas cylinders kept in the kitchen. However, the firefighters showed quick action and safely removed all four large cylinders. This averted a potential explosion and major accident. Cause of fire still not clear The reason for the fire has not been clarified yet. The guard present at the spot said that smoke was visible since morning, but no one could understand how the fire started. The fire department and administration are now investigating the entire matter.
