The accused who carried out firing and vandalism over a slight delay in serving a food order at a hotel located on Gwalior’s Murar-Badagaon Highway have been found to have a direct connection with the police department. In the case, police have arrested three accused, including the son-in-law of a Station House Officer (TI), while the search for the main accused and others is ongoing. The incident took place on Tuesday night at the Highway Glory Hotel on Murar Badagaon Highway. The miscreants entered the hotel and fired indiscriminately. They shattered the glass of the main gate. They fired bullets at the reception counter. They vandalised vehicles parked outside. They created havoc for about half an hour. Then they fled. The hotel staff saved their lives by hiding under tables and behind the counter. CCTV footage of the incident had also surfaced. Identified from CCTV footage After the CCTV footage of the incident surfaced on social media, the police identified the accused. The investigation revealed that the main accused, Sanjay Singh Yadav, is related as a co-father-in-law to Udaybhan Singh Yadav, a station in-charge posted in the Chambal division. Meanwhile, the arrested accused Sumit Yadav is said to be the son-in-law of the station in-charge. Main Accused Still Absconding The police took action on Thursday night and arrested Sumit Yadav, Suraj Yadav, and Pradeep Yadav. According to the police, Sumit was preparing to flee the city when he was surrounded and apprehended upon receiving information. Three other accused, including the main accused Sanjay Yadav, are still absconding. Dispute started over delay in order The incident took place on Tuesday night around 11:30 PM. Sanjay Yadav had gone to ‘Highway Glory’ hotel, located near Mohanpur Bridge in Murar police station area, to eat food. He asked for the order to be taken immediately. The hotel receptionist Rohit Rajput informed him that the waiter was busy, which angered Sanjay. It is alleged that he entered the counter and assaulted Rohit Rajput. He also beat up waiter Sumit Lodhi, who came to intervene, and left after threatening them. Returned with companions and fired shots After some time, Sanjay Yadav returned to the hotel with his companions. The accused fired at the main gate of the hotel, breaking the glass. After this, they fired at cars parked in the parking lot and vandalized them with sticks. The accused entered the hotel, fired at the reception counter, and then fled. Search for other accused continues Murar police station says that the accused have been identified based on CCTV footage and other evidence. Attackers identified from CCTV footage After the incident, when the police saw the footage that appeared on social media, the attackers were identified. It has been found about the main attacker Sanjay Singh Yadav that he is related as a co-father-in-law to Inspector Udaybhan Singh Yadav, who is posted in the Chambal Division. Another name among the attackers, Sumit, is the inspector’s son-in-law. After this, the police identified six people, named them, and registered a case. Fired shots in anger over delay in taking order This entire incident took place three days ago at Nishant Rajput’s hotel ‘Highway Glory’, located near Mohanpur Bridge on the highway under Murar police station area. On Tuesday night around 11:30 PM, accused Sanjay Yadav came and sat in the hotel’s restaurant. He asked the receptionist-cum-manager Rohit Rajput (27) to take the order immediately. When Rohit politely said that the waiter was a bit busy and would be there shortly, Sanjay Yadav became enraged. He entered the counter and rained kicks and punches on Rohit. He also brutally beat waiter Sumit Lodhi, who came to intervene, and left after threatening to ‘deal with him’. Upon reaching the hotel, they fired shots at the reception and luxury cars. The hotel staff thought the dispute was over and were preparing to close the restaurant. Just then, Sanjay Yadav, along with his brother-in-law, son-in-law, and an ‘army’ of armed goons, arrived there in vehicles. As soon as they arrived, the miscreants fired the first shot at the hotel’s main entrance, shattering its glass with an explosion. They continuously fired shots at the customers’ and staff’s cars (numbers MP07 AL-5429 and MP15 ZL-0443) parked in the lot and smashed their windows with sticks. After this, the accused entered, brandishing country-made pistols, and fired at the reception counter. The staff somehow saved their lives by hiding under the counter. Among them, three accused, including a police inspector’s son-in-law, were arrested on Thursday night.
