In Chhatarpur, a woman was assaulted by her husband after she gave birth to a daughter. The victim submitted a complaint application at the SP office on Wednesday, which reached Garhimalhara police station on Thursday. The victim stated that after the birth of her daughter, her husband and in-laws started harassing her. They also attempted to take the child’s life. The victim said that she escaped from her in-laws’ house and went directly to the SP office. According to information, 21-year-old Shyam Barar, a resident of Panagar village (Pipat police station area), stated that she was married three years ago in Urdmau village, Garhimalhara police station area. According to the victim, three months ago she gave birth to a daughter, after which the behavior of her in-laws changed and she was continuously harassed. Assaulted and threatened for not having a son The woman alleges that her husband and in-laws are angry with her for not having a son and for this reason, she is being mentally and physically tortured. She stated that she was threatened with being thrown out of the house many times and was recently assaulted. The victim also alleged that during the dispute, her husband tried to strangle their newborn daughter and attempted to harm her by stepping on her, whom she somehow saved. After this, she somehow managed to leave the house with her daughter and went directly to the SP’s office. The woman said that her husband has a relationship with another woman, and she has proof of it. If she returns to her in-laws’ house, her and her daughter’s lives are in danger. She has demanded security and strict action from the police administration. Police engaged in investigation In this matter, Garhimalhara Police Station in-charge Geeta Singh stated that the woman reached the SP’s office directly, and no written application has been received at their police station yet. However, information about the application has been received from the SP’s office, and legal action will be taken after investigation. Currently, the police have seriously started investigating the entire matter, and the process of verifying the victim’s allegations is ongoing.
