The first 18 hours in jail for retired judge Giribala Singh and her son Samarth Singh, who have been sent to judicial custody in the actress-model Twisha Sharma death case, passed largely according to routine, jail officials said. According to the jail administration, both underwent medical examinations after being lodged in Bhopal Central Jail. Giribala reportedly slept comfortably through the night, while Samarth appeared anxious and spent much of the night tossing and turning on his barrack bed. Ate standard jail food, no special diet requested After arriving at the jail at around 5 pm on Tuesday, the two were served dinner at 6 pm, the same as other inmates. Housed in separate barracks, both ate Roti with Kadhi-Pakora. Jail officials said neither requested any special diet. However, Giribala declined to eat Chana Dal. On Wednesday morning, they were served salted porridge and tea for breakfast. Both had the same meal. Giribala says she trusts the legal process During interactions with jail officials, Giribala said she was not suffering from any illness and remained composed while discussing the case. She reportedly told officials that she remained positive and had full faith in the legal system. “We have complete faith in the law. My son and I have done nothing wrong,” she said. Medical examination finds Giribala fit According to jail authorities, Giribala Singh was found physically fit during her medical examination and reported no health issues. She also stated that she is not on any regular medication. Samarth’s medical examination was scheduled for Wednesday, although he has reportedly said that he is physically fit. Both fit in medical checkup, no medication ongoing According to jail administration, Giribala Singh is physically fit in the medical checkup. She has no complaints of any illness. They informed that no regular medication is ongoing. Samarth’s medical checkup is to be done on Wednesday. However, he himself claims to be physically fit. On Wednesday morning, elder son Siddharth reached the jail to meet Giribala Singh and Samarth. He first met Samarth and then Giribala Singh. Giribala prisoner number 71 and Samarth prisoner number 1782 On the orders by which criminals were once sent to Bhopal Central Jail. On Tuesday, retired judge Giribala Singh also entered the same jail. After the completion of CBI remand, the court sent Giribala and her son Samarth Singh to jail for 14 days of judicial custody. According to the jail administration, Giribala Singh has been kept in the medical section of the women’s wing. The court had accepted the request to keep her separate from other inmates. Here, she is with four other female prisoners. In the jail records, she has been given arrival number 71, which is her new identity. Meanwhile, Samarth Singh has been kept in section B of barrack number 4 of the Central Jail, where he is with 15 other prisoners. Samarth has been given arrival number 1782. Facilities provided under jail rules As per prison regulations, both have been provided standard facilities, including a plate, bowl and bedsheet. Their daily schedule includes: Tight security during court appearance Police maintained a security cordon during the court appearance. Both accused were brought into the court premises through a rear entrance. People present near the court were not permitted to use mobile phones during the proceedings. Allegations of media trial raised in court A legal aid defence team represented Giribala Singh, while advocate Enosh George Carlo appeared on behalf of Samarth Singh. During the hearing, Giribala accused Twisha’s lawyers of conducting a media trial. Earlier, she had also addressed a press conference to present her side of the case.
