A group of armed men allegedly stormed a hotel in Gwalior and carried out a shooting and vandalism spree, damaging property and terrorising staff. The attackers reportedly opened fire inside the hotel, shattered the glass entrance, fired at the reception counter and vandalised vehicles parked outside. The violence continued for nearly 30 minutes before the accused fled the scene. Hotel employees hid under tables and behind the reception counter to protect themselves during the attack. The incident took place on Tuesday night at the Highway Glory Hotel on the Murar-Badagaon Highway. CCTV footage of the attack surfaced on Wednesday. Based on a complaint filed by hotel owner Nishant Rajput, police have registered a named FIR and launched a search operation to trace the accused. Dispute began over delay in taking food order According to hotel owner Nishant Rajput, the incident began at around 11:30 pm on Tuesday when a man identified as Sanjay Yadav arrived at the hotel and sat in the restaurant area. At the time, 27-year-old Rohit Rajput, a resident of Gadaipura in the Hazira area of Gwalior, was present at the reception desk. Sanjay allegedly called Rohit and demanded that his order be taken immediately. Rohit reportedly informed him that the waiter was busy and would attend to him shortly. The response allegedly angered Sanjay, who approached the reception counter and began verbally abusing Rohit. When Rohit objected, Sanjay allegedly assaulted him before leaving the premises after issuing threats. See pictures of the firing and vandalism Accused returned with armed associates According to the complaint, at around 1:30 am, when hotel staff were preparing to close for the night, Sanjay Yadav returned with several armed associates travelling in multiple vehicles. The group allegedly entered the hotel premises and began firing without any further confrontation. The first shot was reportedly fired at the hotel’s main entrance, shattering the glass door. The attackers then went on a rampage, causing extensive damage to the property. CCTV footage captures attack The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the hotel. The footage reportedly shows the accused entering the premises, opening fire and vandalising the property while frightened staff members scramble for safety by hiding under tables and behind the reception counter. Police launch search for accused Police have registered a case against the named accused and are conducting raids to locate those involved in the attack. Investigators are examining CCTV footage and collecting evidence as part of the ongoing investigation. No arrests had been reported at the time of filing the complaint.
