A speeding car hit an 11-year-old boy in Gwalior on Saturday evening, throwing him nearly 10 feet into the air before he crashed onto the road. The child suffered a serious head injury, while fingers on his hands and feet were fractured. The entire incident was captured on CCTV. The injured boy has been identified as Pratham Sharma (11), son of Vijay Sharma. A Class 5 student, Pratham was heading out to play with his cousin Gauransh when the accident occurred. Child’s condition critical after the accident According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place between 5:15 pm and 5:30 pm in DD Nagar’s BSF Colony area. A car bearing registration number MP07 AE 7664 allegedly arrived at high speed and struck the child. The impact flung Pratham several feet away onto the road. He was rushed to hospital and is currently undergoing treatment at Kanha Hospital on Bhind Road. His condition remains critical. Instead of helping him, they allegedly left him bleeding and writhing in pain on the road before fleeing the spot. Pratham is a resident of Sumerpur village Pratham Sharma is a native of Sumerpur village. His father, Vijay Sharma, is a farmer. Due to family circumstances, Pratham has been living with his mother, Jhalak Sharma, at his maternal uncle Ravish Pandey’s home in Gwalior for nearly 10 years, where he is also studying. Family members said – accused are pressuring for settlement Pratham’s uncle, Ravish Pandey, alleged that the accused side has been pressuring the family to reach a compromise following the accident. He said the driver and his companions have been absconding since the incident. The family is demanding strict action and justice for the injured child. Car seized, police engaged in search for accused Maharajpura police have launched an investigation following the complaint. Based on CCTV footage and other evidence, police have seized the car involved in the accident. Police officials said the driver and his companions have been identified and efforts are underway to trace them. They added that the accused will be arrested soon and legal action will follow.
