To accommodate the growing passenger rush during the summer travel season, the Jhansi Railway Division has decided to permanently add extra sleeper coaches to several important express trains. The move is expected to benefit thousands of travellers from Gwalior and other parts of central India by increasing the chances of securing confirmed tickets, particularly during the busy holiday season when waiting lists often become very long. According to railway officials, passenger traffic has increased significantly during the summer months. Trains operating between Jhansi, Bareilly, Indore and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus have been experiencing heavy demand and long waiting lists, prompting the railway administration to take corrective measures. Three additional sleeper coaches to be added Under the new arrangement, extra coaches have already been added to the Bareilly–Lokmanya Tilak Express (Train No. 14313) from May 30. Similarly: After the addition of these coaches, each train will consist of a total of 20 coaches. Railway officials believe the increased sleeper-class capacity will make it easier for passengers to obtain confirmed reservations and help reduce waiting lists. Relief for holiday and long-distance travellers The additional coaches are expected to particularly benefit passengers travelling long distances for holidays, family events and employment-related purposes. With more sleeper berths available, travellers are likely to face fewer difficulties in securing reservations during peak travel periods. Extra sleeper coach added to summer special train The railway administration has also announced the addition of one extra sleeper coach to the Summer Special train operating between Prayagraj and Hazrat Nizamuddin. Under the revised arrangement: More coaches may be added in future Railway officials said additional coaches may be introduced on other routes in the future, depending on passenger demand and crowd levels. The move is aimed at making travel more comfortable and improving ticket availability for passengers during peak travel seasons.
