Ahmedabad is under a strict security blanket as the Narendra Modi Stadium prepares to host the IPL 2026 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans. Aiming for a flawless event, Police Commissioner GS Malik personally inspected the stadium and surrounding road arrangements. Given the high-profile nature of the match and the expected attendance of numerous VVIPs, security forces have been placed on high alert. A massive force of 3,043 personnel has been deployed across the city. This includes 3 IGPs, 11 DCPs, 21 ACPs, 47 Police Inspectors, 140 Sub-Inspectors, and 2,823 other officers. Specialized units, including the Crime Branch, Special Operations Group (SOG), Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), and anti-drone teams, are stationed at key locations. To prevent stampedes, authorities have set up extensive barricades alongside three dedicated crowd-holding areas. Crackdown on ticket black marketing To protect fans from exploitation amid soaring ticket demand, the Police Commissioner has issued a strict public notification effective from 30 to 31 May. The order explicitly bans the hoarding and selling of IPL final tickets at inflated prices. Violators will face stringent legal action under Section 131 of the Gujarat Police Act and Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Local scalpers arrested Enforcement teams are already active on the ground. Acting on a tip-off, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch arrested Mann Patel (19) from Bodakdev and Safiq Ansari (24) from Gomtipur a day ago. Officers recovered four match tickets and two mobile phones—including an iPhone 17 Pro—valued at ₹1.25 lakh. Separately, Chandkheda Police caught Monu Guni-Patwa (19) of Chhattisgarh outside Kanha Hotel while he was actively trying to sell a ₹2,500 ticket for an exorbitant ₹6,000.
