A two-month-old newborn’s body was found in a horrifying condition in Madhya Pradesh’s Ashok Nagar district on Sunday morning. The body was discovered between the CMHO office and the Circuit House, where stray dogs were seen mauling the infant near roadside bushes. Locals said the body had been torn into two pieces. See these pictures… Passersby notice suspicious movement According to eyewitnesses, some passersby initially noticed a dog carrying something in its mouth from the Circuit House side early in the morning. At the time, no one paid serious attention. However, suspicion grew after three to four stray dogs gathered near bushes and began mauling something repeatedly. When nearby residents and passersby reached the spot, they were left shocked after discovering the body of a newborn child. People immediately chased the dogs away and informed police by dialling 112. Police launch investigation Soon after receiving information, the Dehat police team reached the spot and began an investigation. The body was taken into custody, panchnama proceedings were carried out, and the remains were sent to the district hospital for post-mortem examination. Police officials said the infant has not been identified so far. CCTV footage under scrutiny Investigators are now examining CCTV footage from nearby roads, hospitals and maternity centres to identify who abandoned the child and under what circumstances. Police are also trying to determine whether the newborn died before being attacked by stray dogs or succumbed to the injuries later. Officials said the exact cause of death will only become clear after the post-mortem report is received.
