A government school teacher, Anil Kumar Tiwari, is fighting for his life in the ICU of Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa. Meanwhile, in extreme heat of nearly 45°C, his family has been sitting outside the hospital for the last 48 hours without food or water. Even 72 hours after the incident, no FIR has been registered against the University police station in-charge or a journalist, raising serious questions over police functioning. The family has warned that if justice is not delivered, they will resort to mass suicide. The teacher’s brother, Dhirendra Tiwari, said that Nishant used to claim that TI Hitenranath Sharma was his relative and SP Gurkaran Singh was his batchmate, and that no one could do anything against his influence. According to Dhirendra, Nishant allegedly told his brother that he would only forgive him if he “rubbed his nose on his shoes.” Poison has spread throughout the teacher’s body, family issues ultimatum The condition of government teacher Anil Kumar Tiwari, admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa, remains critical. After cutting his wrist and consuming poison, the toxic substance has reportedly spread throughout his body. His family has been sitting outside the hospital for 48 hours without food or water, demanding justice. The wife has warned that she will end her life if justice is not served, while daughter Priya Tiwari has also said the entire family may commit mass suicide if their demands are ignored. Allegation – Journalist and his family filed a fake case According to the family, the dispute began over cutting of a tree on the teacher’s land. They allege that journalist Nishant Mishra and his family threatened the teacher and later got a false case registered against him. The family claims continuous harassment and humiliation at the police station mentally broke the teacher. ‘TI should be an executioner, not police’ On Thursday morning at around 7 am, before taking the extreme step, the teacher wrote a five-page suicide note. He held University police station in-charge Hitenra Sharma and journalist Nishant Mishra responsible for his condition. He wrote that he had never committed any crime, but the station in-charge falsely implicated him by taking bribes and tarnished his 28-year clean service record. He added that such an officer should not be in the police but should be a “butcher”. He also alleged that the son of Paramanand Mishra, who is in the army, had threatened to shoot him. In his appeal to the Prime Minister, Home Minister and Human Rights Commission, he demanded a high-level or CBI probe into the matter. Conscious moments: first question about action taken After attempting to cut his wrist, Anil Tiwari shared a blood-soaked photo in a teachers’ WhatsApp group, following which his family rushed him to hospital. When he regained consciousness in hospital, his first question to his son was whether any action had been taken and whether anyone had listened to his complaint. Later, upon learning that no action had been taken against the accused, he reportedly consumed poison inside the hospital itself. The family has questioned whether even a suicide note and repeated attempts are not enough to shake the system, and what the police in Rewa are waiting for. No FIR or arrest even after 72 hours In the suicide note, the teacher also expressed disappointment with Rewa Collector Narendra Suryavanshi, stating that trust should have been placed in his work performance. He wrote that instead of rewarding his 28 years of excellent service, he was punished. Even after 72 hours, no FIR has been registered and no arrests have been made. The University police station in-charge, Hitenra Sharma, has denied the allegations, stating that police function as an independent agency and act on complaints without pressure. SP Gurkaran Singh said that on the complaint of the other side, a case had been registered against the teacher’s family. However, after the family’s complaint, an inquiry has been ordered into both aspects and action will be taken based on the findings.
