In Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district, a man climbed an 800-foot-high BSNL tower along with his wife and two-and-a-half-year-old daughter on Thursday afternoon at a hillock behind Peeli Kothi in the Cantt police station area. By evening, the family had remained atop the tower for more than four hours. Despite repeated appeals by police, administrative officials and rescue teams, the man refused to come down. Police called the NDRF and Army for the rescue operation. Teams also began preparations to install safety nets below the tower. The man alleged that police assaulted him and filed a false case against him. Family’s allegation- Police took wrong action The man has been identified as Balram Ahirwar. He climbed the tower along with his wife Krishnadevi and their young daughter. The family alleged that police had taken wrongful action against them. The man repeatedly demanded that the Motinagar police station in-charge be called to the spot. The TI later reached the site, but even after that the man refused to climb down. Told his brother – Police beat me and then sent me to jail The man’s brother said Balram had met him before climbing the tower. He allegedly told him that police had beaten him for a long time and later sent him to jail. Upset over the incident, he took the extreme step. The family is reportedly distressed over the police case registered against them. They alleged that Motinagar police had filed a false case against them.
