A 16-year-old girl in Madhya Pradesh’s Niwari district died by suicide after allegedly being harassed by four youths. The victim had filed a police complaint against the accused three days earlier. Her family alleged that the accused had been pressuring them for a compromise since then. The incident took place on Sunday morning in Siyakhas village under Prithvipur police station limits. According to police, the girl’s mother opened the room door and found her hanging. Police reached the spot soon after receiving information. The body was sent for post-mortem examination. No suicide note was recovered from the scene. Four youths accused of molestation According to police, on May 14, four youths from the village — Ansal Yadav, Pansel Yadav, Halke Yadav and another person — allegedly molested the minor girl. Following the incident, the victim approached Prithvipur police station and filed a complaint against the accused. Police subsequently registered a case and began an investigation. Brother alleges death threats The victim’s father Jagannath and brother alleged that while police had initiated action in the molestation case, the accused continued threatening the entire family. Her brother claimed that the accused had also threatened to kill him, due to which his sister remained under constant mental stress. He alleged that she eventually died by suicide out of fear. Had come to the village just 6 months ago The minor had passed Class 10 and was studying while staying with her sister in Uttar Pradesh. She had returned to her native village around six months ago. Police say one accused arrested Prithvipur police station in-charge Jitendra Singh Gurjar said statements of the family members have been recorded. Out of the four accused named in the molestation case, one has been arrested and is being questioned, while police are continuously searching for the three absconding accused.
