A case of molestation of a 13‑year‑old student emerged during a summer camp being held at a school in Indore. After the student lodged a complaint, a chaotic situation unfolded on campus late on Thursday night. On receiving the information, police reached the hostel and questioned the student and staff in the presence of female officers. The warden of the boys’ hostel, Vinod Sharma, has been arrested in connection with the incident. Rajendra Nagar Police registered a case against the accused under offences of molestation and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. According to police, when the team reached the hostel late at night the accused had fled. He was arrested on Friday morning. Student who had travelled from Ratlam to take part in the summer camp, informed her family about the warden’s alleged objectionable actions. Following this, acquaintances and members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) arrived on campus and created a disturbance. Police attended the scene and began an investigation. Victim had attended camp with younger sister Rajendra Nagar TI Yashwant Badole said the victim had come to participate in the summer camp with her younger sister. The camp has been running since 3 May, and about 18 female and 36 male student were participating. Separate hostels had been arranged for male and female student. According to police, on the evening of 13 May, when the water supply ran out, the student went towards the boys’ hostel with a bottle. It is alleged that the warden committed an objectionable act at that time. The victim then informed her mother about the incident by mobile phone. On receiving the information from the mother, police reached the campus and took action. Police are interrogating the accused and have sought information from the school and the summer camp management. They are also continuing the investigation by speaking to other student.
